I can’t believe the holidays have come and gone already! December always goes by so fast, and this year was no exception. My husband and I traveled to Florida for Christmas, flew back for 1.5 days, then left to spend NYE in London (my FAVORITE city!). I also traveled to Texas for work in early December. Needless to say, December was a crazy busy month for me!
I’ve been seeing a lot of posts on social media about New Years resolutions. I don’t typically make resolutions because the idea of it seems so cliché. It seems like a lot of people have the same resolution– get healthy and/or lose weight. I think that if you want to make a lifestyle change you shouldn’t wait until January 1st to do it; you should do it as soon as possible! This year I decided I would make some creative and nontraditional resolutions.
Last month I made the most delicious peppermint mocha cookies. Seriously. They were SO GOOD! I gave most of them away to some co-workers for Christmas, and everyone loved them!
These cookies are from Sally’s Baking Addiction and the recipe can be found here.
This year I want to bake more than just cookies. I want to learn how to make macarons! Macarons are so fun and delicious! They can’t be THAT difficult to make, right?! If any of you have advice or recipes that you recommend, please let me know!
My second resolution is to read more. I typically read three or four books per year, plus a few magazines. This year I want to read at least one book per month. The last book I read I was Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick. I adore Anna Kendrick and I totally recommend this book! Right now I’m reading (again!) Fifty Shades Darker, which is the second book in the Fifty Shades of Grey series. The movie comes out next month and I’m not ashamed to say that I am SO excited for it! The next books on my list are the new ones from Lauren Graham and Amy Schumer.
This year I want to recycle more and try to use less plastic. My husband and I both pack our lunches for work each morning, and we both use plastic sandwich/snack bags. This year, we’re going to use tupperware instead. I have a ton of glass pyrex storage containers that would work perfectly. My husband still uses brown paper bags to pack his lunch, so I plan on buying him a nice reusable lunch bag to use instead. Every little bit helps! We already use reusable shopping bags. If I ever forget our reusable bags at home, I always make sure to recycle the plastics bags afterwards. If you’re not using reusable shopping bags already you really should!
I encourage each of you to make at least one resolution this year. Try to have fun and be creative with it!
