Today is my two year wedding anniversary. TWO YEARS! That may not seem significant to you, but, I can’t believe how fast the time has gone. Kudos to my husband for putting up with my shenanigans for this long. Anyone that knows me knows that I am sassy, sarcastic, and cantankerous. If you catch me on a good day I am also kind, caring, and loving. I am also lucky because my husband loves me through all of my crazy and unpredictable moments.
Okay okay, enough with the sappy stuff!
My husband is terrible at planning surprises, so I found out what his gifts to me were about a month ago. I had to leave work early one day for an appointment, and I noticed that my husband was actively using the same GPS app that I was using. It seemed very suspicious to me since he NEVER leaves work early.
I called him an hour or so later, which would have been during my normal commute time. He told me he had just left work and was on his way home. Umm what? I responded by (childishly) shouting ‘LIAR!’ multiple times before explaining how I knew he was lying. He admitted that he left work early to go pick up some things from his mom’s house. He had my gifts shipped there so I wouldn’t find them. Ohhhh silly boy, you’ve got to be sneakier than that!
At that point it became a race to see which one of us could get home first. I never told him my location (and yes, I made sure to disable my location on the GPS app) so he had no idea where I was.
I got home about fifteen minutes before he did. I waited inside by the window (like the true creeper that I am) and as soon as I saw him approach our driveway, I ran out into the garage to ambush him.
About a minute had gone by and nothing happened. I popped up from my hiding spot to peak out the window, and there he was. He was running full speed through the yard with his arms full of packages. I pounded on the window and he stopped dead in his tracks. I waved at him, and he just shook his head and walked the rest of the way to the house.
After we both had a good laugh, he explained that he was trying to stash my gifts by the back door where I wouldn’t see them. He thought he could outsmart me because he knew I would waiting for him to come in through the garage. Nice try!
He bought me some Cleveland Indians gear and a wedding dress preservation kit. He mailed my dress in the following day, and I just got it back in the mail last week. It looks incredible! I’m so happy he thought to do that because I’ve been wanting to do for a while now (two years, to be exact).
This year we decided to celebrate our anniversary by going to the happiest place on Earth. Yep, we’re going to Disney World! Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I’m really excited to go to Disney during the Halloween season. We leave in less than two weeks and I can’t wait!
Happy anniversary, Jim!
